What is Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy has long been used to aid in relaxation and stress relief. As such, it has often been viewed as pampering or a luxury, but massage therapy has many faces, and can be an integral part of health and well-being. It provides pain relief for overworked muscles, enhances circulation and immune system functioning, improves flexibility and mobility, aids in pre-surgery preparation and post-surgery rehabilitation, enhances athletic performance and recovery, helps improve scar tissue and function after an injury, and much more. Moreover, even the relaxation effect of massage therapy assists the body in being more receptive to healing, and the simple act of safe and restorative physical touch can provide the connection we all need these days.

Sessions are tailored to your specific needs to alleviate pain and restriction in the body brought on by injury, postural deficits, surgery and other reasons, or simply to relax and destress. These sessions are relaxing AND therapeutic. Note: With some corrective techniques, clients are sometimes actively engaged in order to facilitate some of the techniques. Lymphatic Massage
Lymphatic Massage is a light, soothing technique also known as Manual Lymph Drainage which stimulates the lymphatic system and assists in moving fluid from areas of edema and facilitating the removal of toxins from the body more effectively. This technique along with intermittent diaphragmatic breathing is designed to open lymphatic pathways in the body to promote healthy lymph fluid movement, decongest tissues, minimize inflammation and support healing. Lymphatic work is a safe and effective way to assist people with lymphedema and other forms of fluid retention, especially after surgery or injury. Additionally, people with arthritis, gastrointestinal disorders, autoimmune disorders, allergies, pain syndromes, neurological disorders, post-surgical procedures, pre/post-natal edema, skin conditions, anxiety, and depression can benefit greatly from this work. NOTE: We do not treat active lymphedema, a chronic condition different than regular edema.

Consultation with Hilary
Seeing a myriad of practitioners for pain or other issues but no one is hearing your full story? Let us support you in finding some answers. If you have a more complicated issue that you'd like to discuss and determine your best course of action, this session is for you. In your consultation, you and Hilary will take a deep dive into your history, explore the physical basis of your issue, the neurological underpinnings of how issues can stay with us, and how the mind-body connection plays a key role in chronic or recurrent issues. You'll explore what the messages your body may be trying to send you, determine what therapies and/or other practitioners may help you with the issues you are having, and bring forth new ideas to open you up to a new narrative for yourself. Sessions can be done in-person, by phone or Zoom.
